Wow, I just came across this blog somehow through a google search and this is really an exhaustive study on this book. I guess the simplest conclusion is for accuracy's sake, it is best to explore the 1980 version or the 1952 if fluent in Hebrew, which I'm not. Otherwise avoid the artscroll version like the plague. But I have to say this is a blog I will make sure I return to, to see the other entries! Truly amazing work. I also think it's rather disingenuous that such an unscholarly approach is taken by artscroll in order to convince the current bochurim of the inherent 'holiness' of the status quo with regard to mainstream haredi yeshiva political stances. I worry that this can have disastrous consequences for klal yisrael in the future, G-d forbid.

Very interesting review.

A really minor point concerning footnote 110:

a God-fearing Jew from Frankfurt[…] ‘sinned’ in that, like so many other German Jews, he held the title of "Dr."

If he was a community rabbi, German law demanded this, a fact which could have been exploited by hareidist historiography.
